Is neutrality really being neutral ?

Is neutrality really being neutral ? I thought it was an interesting question. Especially after I read the news that the neutral Swiss have banned minarets from their country. Historically the Swiss have taken the neutral stand from both the world wars to most of their foreign policy. By simply giving a pass to a wrong doer makes you equally guilty.. The daily show had a piece and John Oliver's interview was quite interesting

poetry in music

Can music express the words of the poet ?? I have been intrigued by Madina Gulgun an iranian/azeri poet. Her most famous work which was sung by everyone was sen gelmez ouldun. Unless you understand the language you might not be able to identify the depth in her lyrics. Not to mention even if you do find some decent translation.. there are somethings which just gets lost in translation (so true for Urdu poetry). I remember long time ago reading a small poem by John Keats. It tells of the poet's astonishment at reading the works of the ancient Greek poet Homer as freely translated by the Elizabethan playwright George Chapman. Well this new age music inspired by Madina Gulgun's poetry composed by Alihan Samedov made me go look up at her work. I really feel the composer translated Gulgun's poetry into this music. After changing my laptop few time I lost this music... imagine my surprise when i accidentally find it today and yeah i did not know about the composer until today

Melbourne

SRI conference in down under was great. Apart from the travel the conference was a very focused one. I really like the way one of the speaker ended this talk at SRI. I could only get the last minute or so of his conclusion.

Coffeeeee

I had some of the best coffee in Melbourne... I must say that city has the maximum coffee house per area and the aussies have mastered the art of making great coffee

Kanye west

I first across this singer from Colbert Nation. I think before the MTV awards south park had a nice episode on Kanye west and this is a song from the show (remember it is south park so don't expect the language to be nice).. I just found the song and the episode really funny

loong break

well it has been a long break... lots of things to update first thing first got to visit the infamous neighbor pak. Well some summer school and knew someone who got me invited. The school part aside got a bit (very little) of sight seeing. Too much security and protocols. Here are some nice pics from ayubia. Loved the grilled food I think there is more BBQ options in pak than in India
